Cover the mat with a thin blanket or towel before your pet lies on it. The maker suggests covering it, switching to High, then feeling the temperature with your hand after 10 to 20 minutes and adjusting the setting. Use Low for everyday and overnight warmth.

Only use it for a pet that can move off it unaided. A very young, elderly, sedated or immobile animal can overheat on a warm surface it cannot leave. Place the mat over part of the bed only, so your pet can always choose an unheated spot.

Keep it flat. Never fold the mat or let it overlap while it is on. The maker advises securing the four corners so your pet cannot push it into a heap. The mat ships folded, so unfold it and lay it flat when it arrives.
- Do not scratch the surface with sharp objects, and do not cut, pierce or staple the mat.
- The cord sleeve makes chewing harder but is not a guarantee against a determined chewer. Check the cord regularly and stop using the mat if the sleeve or cable is damaged.

Wipe clean only. The cover is not removable and the mat must not be washed in water. Unplug it before cleaning and make sure it is completely dry before switching it back on.

The maker describes the Low setting as suitable for all night. Keep a cover over the mat, make sure your pet can move off it, and unplug it when the house is empty if you prefer not to leave it running.
Can I put it in the washing machine?
No. The cover does not come off and the mat must not be washed in water. Unplug it and wipe the surface with a damp cloth, then let it dry fully.
Which size should I choose?
The 17.7 in square mat suits a cat, rabbit or small dog curled up in a crate or bed. The 19.7 x 27.6 in mat gives more room to stretch out. With either size, leave some unheated space in the bed.
