Important Information
Two things the manufacturer publishes that do not agree, and we are passing both on. The product description states the netting is a stainless-steel reinforced mesh. The specification sheet for the same item records the material simply as Plastic. We have queried it. Until we have an answer, please buy on the basis that this is a polymer netting that may or may not carry a wire core — and do not assume a metal reinforcement is present.
No mesh aperture size is published. The manufacturer does not state how large the individual squares are. That matters most for very young kittens, who can pass through gaps an adult cat cannot. If you have a kitten, measure the netting on arrival before relying on it, and supervise until you are satisfied.
What this is not. This is a deterrent barrier, not a structural fall-arrest system, and it is not a certified safety product. It has no published load rating. It should never be treated as a substitute for a sound balcony railing, and it is not rated to hold the weight of a person or a large dog. Install it as an additional layer of protection over an already-safe railing, check the fixings periodically, and supervise your cat until you know how they treat it.
Installation. The included fixings are intended for solid walls. If your balcony is glass, cable-railed or rendered over insulation, source appropriate fixings for that surface rather than forcing the ones supplied.
