Product Overview

A combined reptile thermometer and hygrometer for anyone keeping a lizard, snake, gecko, tortoise or amphibian. Reptiles cannot regulate their own body temperature, so the numbers inside the enclosure are not a nice-to-have — they are the enclosure's most important setting. This analog gauge reads temperature and humidity together on one 74 mm dial, runs without batteries or a power lead, and comes in moulded animal-shaped housings that suit a naturalistic terrarium rather than looking like lab equipment.

Why You'll Love It

  • Temperature and humidity on one dial — the two numbers that matter most, in one glance
  • No batteries and no cable, so nothing dies mid-week and nothing needs routing through the lid
  • 74 mm dial is large enough to read across a room
  • Animal-shaped housings blend into a planted terrarium instead of standing out
  • Cheap enough to fit two — one at the warm end, one at the cool end — which is how you actually verify a gradient

Key Features

  • Combined gauge — temperature and relative humidity in a single unit
  • Fully analog — no battery, no electronics, no power supply
  • 74 mm dial — clearly readable at a distance
  • Animal-shaped housings — turtle, snake, spider and lizard designs
  • ABS, PC and aluminium construction

Important Information

About the design options: the manufacturer distinguishes these variants only by the animal shape of the housing and, in one case, by pack quantity. It does not state that the gauges differ in specification — the measuring range, accuracy and dial size published above are given once, for the product as a whole. Choose the shape you like. We have renamed the supplier's option "A lizard pack" to Lizard and "Lizard two packs" to Lizard (2-Pack) to make the quantity readable; the supplier's remaining shape labels, including "Four-Legged Snake", are its own wording and we have left them rather than guess at what was meant.

Mount two, not one. A single reading tells you the temperature at one point. Reptiles need a thermal gradient — a warm basking end and a cooler end — and the only way to confirm you have one is to measure both ends. Place gauges at your animal's height, not at the top of the enclosure where warm air collects.

An analog dial gauge measures ambient air, not surface temperature. For basking-spot surface temperature, which is what matters directly under a heat lamp, an infrared spot reader is the right tool. Use this gauge for the enclosure's overall climate.

The ±2°C and ±5% RH tolerances are the manufacturer's stated figures. Analog gauges drift over time; replace them periodically and cross-check against a second unit if a species has tight requirements.

Every species is different. Look up the correct temperature and humidity range for the animal you keep and set the enclosure to that — this gauge reports conditions, it does not create them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need batteries?
No. It is fully analog — no battery, no cable, nothing to replace.

Do the different animal shapes read differently?
Not according to the manufacturer. One set of performance figures is published for the product; the shapes are housings.

What is the difference between Lizard and Lizard (2-Pack)?
Quantity — one gauge versus two. We renamed the supplier's original labels to make that clear.

How accurate is it?
The manufacturer states ±2°C on temperature and ±5% RH on humidity.

Can I use it for a basking spot temperature?
Not reliably. A dial gauge reads air temperature. Use an infrared spot thermometer for the surface directly under a lamp.

Will it work in a humid tropical setup?
The humidity scale covers the full 0–100% RH range, so it reads across dry and tropical setups alike.

How do I fix it in the enclosure?
The manufacturer does not specify a mounting method for these housings. Message us if you need to know before ordering and we will ask.
